Audio Book Review

The Grave Tattoo by Val McDermid (2006) read by Kate Reading I thoroughly enjoyed The Grave Tattoo in audiobook and and give both the novel and the reader 4+ stars. I love a mystery with a theme inside the theme. In The Grave Tattoo our heroine Jane Gresham, an English scholar, living in near poverty in London, returns to her Lake District family home after a corpse is discovered in the area. Jane’s scholastic specialty is William Wordsworth and the poets of the Lake District (Coleridge, Southey, and their friend, Beatrix Potter). There are others interested in the corpse, as well as Jane’s search for an epic poem. Can it be possible that Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame), a native of the Lake District and friend of William Wordsworth, secretly returned to the Lake District before his death? Did he tell his story of the mutiny to Wordsworth and was an epic poem penned to chronicle the tale? Good reading that’s all I can tell you. On the bottom left hand side of this blog is a section called My Virtual Library. If you would like more information on this book, you will find a link to it on Amazon.com. The books are in alpha order so you will have to hit next a couple of time to find this book.
